How our goalie pad sizing works
Goalie pad charts are not universal. Each brand may ask for a different measurement or divide its chart into different age and level groups. We keep those differences intact so you can compare your measurement with the rule the manufacturer actually publishes.
Where the chart information comes from
We review current manufacturer charts and official sizing tools for the US market, then turn their rows into consistent, readable tables. Each brand page identifies the manufacturer source and shows when its information was checked.
Follow the source details on each brand chart page.
How your measurement is matched
The calculator uses the method required by the selected brand—such as floor-to-knee or ankle-to-knee—and compares your value with that brand's published ranges or exact measurement pairs. It does not convert one measurement method into another.
If the brand requires an age/level category or standing height, the calculator asks for it before returning a supported match.
Why you may see two sizes—or no recommendation
Some manufacturer ranges overlap at their boundaries. When your measurement honestly matches both, we show adjacent sizes so you can physically compare them.
When measurements conflict, fall into a gap, or have no official mapping, we say so instead of choosing the nearest size. A refusal to recommend is safer and more useful than a confident guess.
How changes are reviewed
Runtime recommendations use only the published, schema-validated dataset. A source change is reviewed upstream, validated against fixtures, published with a version and integrity hash, and then vendored into this site. We do not change sizing rows directly in page copy.
Review dates remain visible on brand pages. Unsupported brands and source gaps stay unsupported until first-party evidence can be reviewed.
Always verify the physical fit
Wear your skates, pants and knee protection, strap the pad normally, and drop into butterfly several times. Your knee should land securely on the block without sliding off an edge. Check rotation, boot angle and thigh-rise interference. If it does not land correctly, stop and consult a qualified fitter.
